Comments Beta 2
10/04/08
The comments are up and running (and for all users now, not just me). While there are still a few bugs here and there, it's nothing that should delay the release of it. In order to use the comments system, you must be logged into the forum, as this means it is easier to track down members who post spam or low quality comments.
The only remaining features to be added to the comments are replies and reporting, however I'm in no rush to add those just yet, as there is plenty of other things to work on beforehand.
As you'll see, there are several features such as bold and italics. These are only very basic features, and I invite you all to suggest new features when needed. You can do this in the forum. There really is very little left to do before I open the site officially, and I hope to open it
within the next week.
Note regarding the comments..
17/03/08
As I've said numerous times, a comments system is being developed (obviously I'm not releasing it until it's secured and all bug-free). It's because of this that, over the next few weeks, some errors may appear in posts when you view them. If you do spot an error, please just leave it - I'm well aware of the bugs! I hope to get working on the site in all my spare time from now on, in order to reach those targets I mentioned a while back. As for an Easter theme, I'll have to skip it this year - there's plenty of other things to get on with first!
Well, Happy Easter to all, and I'll keep you informed!

Microsoft's response to Yahoo!
22/02/08
If you've been following along with the latest technology news recently, you'd know that Microsoft offered $44.6 billion for Yahoo! on February 1st 2008. Yahoo! declined Microsoft's offer, and their Board of Directors replied, stating that Microsoft's offer "is not in the best interests of Yahoo! and [it's] stockholders.".
The Board also said "Microsoft's proposal substantially undervalues Yahoo! including our global brand, large worldwide audience, significant recent investments in advertising platforms and future growth prospects, free cash flow and earnings potential, as well as our substantial unconsolidated investments.".
That was Yahoo!'s reply, here's Microsoft's:
"It is unfortunate that Yahoo! has not embraced our full and fair proposal to combine our companies. Based on conversations with stakeholders of both companies, we are confident that moving forward promptly to consummate a transaction is in the best interests of all parties.
We are offering shareholders superior value and the opportunity to participate in the upside of the combined company. The combination also offers an increasingly exciting set of solutions for consumers, publishers and advertisers while becoming better positioned to compete in the online services market. "

Happy New Year!
07/01/08
Before anything, I'd like to wish you all a happy new year, and hope you all had a great Christmas break! I'd also like to thank everyone for being so patient as I finished the fundamental scripts for the running of the site (which will be vital in the expandability of the site, might I add).
This year I aim to bring the site to life; I aim to add more original content, and constantly work on the features available to both members and staff. This involves making a few skin changes (nothing compared to the previous ones though, just to soften the gradients - a 60 minute job), working on the Projects section (that needs changing too), and other key changes in the site. You will notice that the proxy is down, and that advertisements are not currently showing on the site. I have found that the proxy is ultimately a waste of time, due to constant maintainence, and at the end of the day, the only people that seem to use it are school kids and college students. Advertisements aren't on the site yet, as I've yet to get round to it, but are very likely to be on the site in the future (although no one said members couldn't go ad-free).

ATI Release 3800 range
20/11/07
The new middle-range cards are now available in stores and online shops. Both cards are retailing at less than $300, making them direct competitors with the Nvidia Geforce 8800GT, also targeting the middle price range. New features to come to these cards include support for DirectX10.1, PCI-Express 2.0, and also support for CrossfireX, which allows up to four cards to be used at the same time.
The 3870 is the top card at the moment, although ATI has mentioned that dual GPU cards will be available later. Tests have shown that the cards do not beat the 8800GT in anything as of yet, however it is cheaper, and falls very close behind the 8800GT. Also, there are no games which support DirectX 10.1, so it is difficult to fully compare the two. The few who have tested them have stated that although frame rates were marginally lower, the actual image quality was higher than the nVidia competitor.
